1. I can't find work. Basically I'm an IT guy and maintain computer networks. Everywhere that is hiring is looking for people with atleast 2-3 years experience. I don't have that kind of experience and I keep dropping my standards in the job search. But pickins' seems slim as only 5 guys from a graduating class of 60 have found work related to our field. The IT field is flooded with out of work guys looking for jobs right now.
2. Now that school is over I really need to start networking socially. I've lost contact with allot of my highschool friends and without school or work it's just getting tough to meet new people interested in similiar things.
3. Hobbies! I'm trying to pick up new hobbies but I'm not sure which direction to go. I'm trying to learn ZBrush on my own but that didn't go well. I tried looking at Maya again, and even though I've had experience with it, I can't for the life of me remember how to do the simplest tasks and just don't know where to start re-learning it. I used to paintball, but the guys I used to go with have all moved on from it. It would be nice to pick up a cheap group activity so I could meet new people but ideas escape me.
My numero uno priority should be work or upgrading my skills, but I keep finding myself trying to do artsy things unrelated to my line of work. I went to the Art Institute of Vancouver's open house to get a look at programs there, but it seemed to expensive for me, knowing that it wouldn't be my career. I really wish I went in that direction as I think I do have quite a bit of potential there. I need to find a cheap course out there or some kind of tutor to teach me some 3D modeling programs.
